The Black and Orange Ball

Dress: ABS Shoes: Ann Taylor Earrings: Chanel (vintage) Cat Mask: Party City

We were a Peacock, Ann Darrow, a Football player, Cat Masquerade, Frankenstein, a Bag of Jelly Beans, a Mime, Teddy Roosevelt, and Blondie. The weekend before Halloween, unless Halloween is on a weekend, is always a time for costume parties. Every year I intend to come up with a creative costume weeks ahead of time, and every year I end up putting my costume together the night before. For this party I planned ahead, and ordered my dress and mask a few weeks ago. Inspired by Truman Capote’s famous Black and White Ball, I decided to dress up as one of the masqueraders. Sadie and Devon had a similar idea and showed up in two very different versions of a peacock.

Vanessa and Macy had the best costumes of the night. I’m obsessed with Macy’s Ann Darrow from King Kong costume, and Vanessa’s bag of jelly beans was such a cute idea. Both of these costumes were homemade. Macy’s costume was simple but brilliant!

One of the highlights of the party is when Richard walked in the room as Frankenstein. It’s the perfect costume for someone so tall, and some of the guests thought he was on stilts. It was ideal. Kiel dressed up as Clint Eastwood from the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. He took the role very seriously πŸ™‚ Brendan appeared as Teddy Roosevelt, and Lindsay a Mime. We had such a good time dancing the night away. What are you dressing up as this year?

I love how all you ladies are whimsical and yet so beautiful.

My family is dressing as a fox hunt – myself as the hunter and my husband and two sons as the hounds.
