Today I’m sharing the last images from our recent European adventure. Before heading home to Rhode Island, Kiel and I enjoyed a short stay at the legendary Four Seasons Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat in the French Riviera. For over a century, the hotel has served as a home away from home for business leaders, celebrities, and royalty infatuated with the CΓ΄te d’Azur‘s mild weather and stunning landscapes. Notable guests include Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra, Picasso, and Elizabeth Taylor.
The chic hotel underwent a complete renovation in 2009 by designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. The famous exterior of the building remained untouched, while the newly updated interior now offers guests all the comforts of modern amenities. I was completely in awe of the sophisticated all-white decor, marble floors, topiary plants, and works of art displayed throughout the rooms.
Upon our arrival, Kiel and I were welcomed with a delicious custom strawberry shortcake and a bottle of champagne. The pearl decorated cake, prepared by the hotel’s pastry chef Luc Debove, was almost too pretty to eat. I couldn’t have dreamed up a more perfect cake if I had tried. Between the food and the gorgeous view of the Mediterranean Sea from our room’s balcony, our day was off to an unforgettable start.
After our snack, I put on a pair of flats and we ventured outdoors to explore the property. Our first stop was Club Dauphin, the hotel club which includes an outdoor restaurant and an olympic sized swimming pool perched above the rocky coastline. I couldn’t imagine a better place to be during the height of summer. We walked past the pool and headed to the Cap Ferrat walking trail. This is an absolute must do experience. The walking trail goes around the Cap Ferrat Peninsula and takes about 3.5 hours from start to finish. Kiel and I did not have time to walk the entire path, but we did manage to make it to the nearby lighthouse. The rugged coastline against the bright blue water was a beautiful sight to behold.
We ended our day with room service and a tour of the property, learning so much about the hotel’s fascinating history. If only the walls could talk! We felt fortunate and grateful to have this experience. Cap Ferrat is a very special place!
Special thank you to Four Seasons and the amazing team at the Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat for our stay!
