Oh I'm an American Girl

Last week Kiel and I stayed at Winvian Farm, tucked away in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut. The resort is owned and run by the Smith Family who purchased the property in 1948. Featured in this post is the main house and heart of the estate.  Built in 1775, It oozes quintessential New England charm. The Smith family spent their summers and long weekends at Winvian until deciding to turn it into a luxurious retreat seven years ago. It is complete with spa, organic gardens, and eighteen individually designed resort cottages for guests to stay in. One guest described the property as "Norman Rockwell meets Alice and Wonderland" and I will have to agree. (I will be sharing more on my stay in an upcoming post. For now I recommend checking out the cottages on the Winvian Farm website. They are unique in the best way!)

The main house currently serves as the resort reception and restaurant. Not featured is the gorgeous addition to the house. It includes a silo staircase leading to the restaurant constructed with wood beams from old barns. I wore this Camilyn Beth dress to a delicious farm to table dinner. It happened to be on Flag Day, but I can't think of a more perfect dress to wear on the 4th of July.

Special thank you to Winvian Farm for our stay!

This time of year I always look for comfort when shopping for shoes. With the warmer weather  I never know where the day might lead me or how much walking I will wind up doing (especially on weekend getaways). Recently I stopped into Nordstrom to buy a comfortable pair of wedges. I immediately fell in love with the pair featured in this post by Stuart Weitzman. They are not only great for wandering around, but the neutral hue matches everything. I also love that wedges make my legs look so much longer. Below I shared a few of my favorite wedges this season.

Special thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!

Happy Weekend! Since February I've been cooking with Plateda food service that delivers gourmet recipes and fresh ingredients to your doorstep. Every week there is a new menu to select from and I look forward to trying new dishes and learning new recipes. Now that it is officially Summer, I prefer to cook on the grill. (Grilled pineapple, bbq chicken, and purple onions are a few of my favorite things.) I was thrilled when I found out that Plated would be offering grilling options. The Plated BBQ ribs with summer squash, zucchini, tomatoes, and red potatoes featured in this post was amazing. It was the perfect meal for a sunset dinner by the lake.

For this post I teamed up with Plated to give one lucky reader the chance to win a month of Plated meals. Enter with Rafflecopter below for your chance to win. The contest begins today and will run until  Tuesday 6/23 at midnight EST. Good luck!!
