Happy almost New Year! I'm looking forward to seeing what 2017 has in store. Thank you so much for all of your support this year. For this post I teamed up with Nordstrom to showcase some of my essential winter basics for dressing up and staying warm. When the weather gets cold I tend to live in jeans, a cozy sweater, boots, and a puffer jacket but there are times when I really want to feel a little more dressed up and have the same level of comfort. On these days a classic black skirt, black tights, and my favorite pair of Ferragamo shoes are my go to. I love dressing up the look with a simple white blouse and a statement necklace, such as these Loren Hope jewels featured in this post. To complete the look a bold jacket always adds a little extra pizzazz.

Special thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!

Winter Solstice

Shirt: kate spade c/o  Pants: J.Crew (similar) Bag: kate spade c/o (Last feat. here) Shoes: kate spade c/o Watch: kate spade c/o Earrings: Lisi Lerch c/0

Only four sleeps until Christmas and I'm planning what to wear for NYE. The kate spade outfit featured in this post is perfect for a relaxing night at home playing board games with friends and family before watching the ball drop on TV. It's just dressy enough and perfectly festive to usher in the new year. The polka dot Pomona kate spade heels add just the right amount of whimsy and fun. I also love how comfortable they are! kate spade has perfected the art of making really cute shoes that your feet will love.

Tis The Season to Be Cozy

PJ's: Kate Spade Slippers: UGG Socks: J.Crew (also love  these and these)
Kiel: PJ's: Majestic International  Slippers: UGG

One gift that almost everyone will love is a cozy pair of slippers. I partnered with Nordstrom to showcase my favorite pair of UGG slippers. They are perfect for relaxing nights at home by the fire, or wrapping presents beside the tree. Kiel and I each have a pair and there is nothing more comfortable to slip our feet into at the end of a long day. There are quite a few different styles and color variations of the UGG slippers at Nordstrom. I opted for a classic style for Kiel and I, but I also love this and this.

O Christmas Sea, O Christmas Sea

Jacket: Patagonia Sweater: Topshop Jeans: J.Brand Boots: Hunter Bag: Ralph Lauren Socks: UGG Scarf: Purchased in Ireland (similar) Hat: Anthropologie (similar)

Newport summer's are legendary, but I have always preferred Newport in the Winter.  In the summer it can get too crowded to really stop and appreciate the charming shops along the wharf, or to enjoy a round of oyster's at Clarke's Cooke House while seated comfortably by the fireplace. I love how festive everything on the island looks this time of year.

I partnered with Nordstrom to showcase some of my favorite winter pieces that make walking around coastal New England in the freezing cold enjoyable. This Patagonia down jacket couldn't have been more perfect for my jaunt by the sea. I ordered it online and when I first took it out of the shipping box I wasn't sure how warm it would be as it looked rather light-weight. I was so happy to find that it was surprisingly very warm, comfortable, and easy to move around in. I bought a similar jacket from another brand last year and I hardly ever wore it as it was heavy and stiff. This jacket will be perfect for my winter travels at the end of this month where I need every inch of space in my suitcase I can get.

My sweater, which is not really visible in this post, was really cozy and I loved the look of it. It's a classic staple for the winter months ahead. I tend to wear a lot of turtlenecks this time of year. My other staple is more often than not Hunter Boots. I have a few pairs but couldn't resist adding this mint green pair sold at Nordstrom to my collection. The Ugg socks I wore with them made my feet so warm. Good Boot socks are hard to find and when I do I try my best not to lose them!

Special thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!

"Forever Green" Our Wedding Day

"My darling Sarah,  in you I have found the love to light up this entire World a thousand times.  You are my closest, dearest, truest friend and I promise to be by your side forever." --Kiel

Preparing for the best day of our life last year, finding our favorite outfits we would ever wear.

The moment I stepped out to the greatest adventure of my life

"You are my warmth in the cold. You are forever my other half.  You are my life after life.  You are forever my evergreen"

In this here moment I was the happiest I had ever been in my entire life.  I laughed and abruptly excused myself from the entire wedding to take a picture.  A picture to always look back on and say "this is the me I always want to be." Not for me but for her, because she deserves the happiest man I can be as a thank you to each and everyday that she is by my side for the rest of my life". --Kiel

Kiel & Sarah 2010-2015: Pictures taken exactly 5 years apart 😊. Traditions fortify our existence by the virtue of love.  Present experiences and past memories continuously intertwine our souls into a great untangable knot.  At the end, what had happened was our life. Regardless of point, rhyme, or reason, we improved each other's beings by creating and carrying on traditions together with each passing season.

We hopped into our Jeep Wagoneer and drove back home to be with family and friends for apple pie, cake, mom's gingerbread cookies, Christmas music, champagne and eggnog.  It was the most perfect day and we both agreed that all the little things we already had was all we ever needed to live happily ever after.

Henry's Christmas Tree Farm 2010

We ran from the wedding. Kiel lifted me off my feet and carried me into our wagon.  We drove away from the farm, the cheering family, the gorgeous ceremony.  We were in complete silence.  So many feeling and thoughts.  At the exact same moment after 7 minutes of silence we both looked at each other and exclaimed "we're married!". Kiel hit the brakes.  We sat on the side of road eyes full of tears and came to the realization of what just happened.  Our lives were now one life and everything was more beautiful because of it.

Traditions are very important to Kiel and I. Every year since we first started dating we would visit Henry's Christmas Tree Farm to pick out our tree. The endless rows of evergreens make it such a magical place to bundle up and walk through on a chilly winter afternoon. We look forward to our time there every year. When it came time to pick out a venue we knew the Christmas tree farm was the perfect place to say I do.

We had a small ceremony amongst close family and hundreds of twinkling lights. It was slightly raining when I stepped out of the Wagoneer to meet Kiel at the altar. To some this might have been upsetting but for us it only enhanced the atmosphere. Our special moment was finally here! After we said our vows we ran from the wedding. Kiel lifted me off my feet and carried me into our wagon. We drove away from the farm, the cheering family, and the gorgeous ceremony in complete silence. There were so many feelings and thoughts. At the exact same moment after seven minutes of silence we both looked at each other and exclaimed "we're married!" Kiel hit the brakes. We sat on the side of the road with eyes full of tears and came to the realization of what just happened. Our lives were now one life, and everything was more beautiful because of it.
