Spring for the Classics

While I know that Spring is just around
the corner, it still feels like a long way off with Winter Storm Stella
on the horizon. I still can’t believe we are getting 18-24″ of snow
tommorow. Every March, it seems like New England always has a couple
weeks of warmer weather to tease us, before hitting us with more snow
and much colder temps. In like a lion and out like a lamb… fingers
crossed! This year is no different. While I’m staying cozy indoors I
wanted to share a few of my key Spring pieces. These are the staples
that I keep going back to year after year. They are also great for
mixing and matching.

Light Blue Skirt (1st photo): As
the weather starts to warm up I like to slowly incorporate lighter
colors into my wardrobe. Light blue always feels so Springy to me.
It’s refreshing after wearing mostly Navy in the winter. I love to wear a
light blue skirt with a cable knit sweater or under a light trench coat
with a simple white blouse. It adds the perfect pop of color. This
outfit was featured in one of my favorite posts from last Spring, the Newport Ledges. I purchased the skirt from Club Monaco and the shirt from J.Crew. Club Monaco has a similar style skirt this year in white. I love these light blue skirts here and here

Striped T-shirts (2nd photo): This
is a very basic piece that looks good with pretty much everything. I
love to wear one with a dressy skirt to make my look more casual or with
white pants for a classic look. If the weather is chilly, striped
t-shirts look great under a blazer or sweater. It can also be fun to mix
stripes with other patterns such as florals. The striped t-shirt I’m
wearing in the second photo (see full post here) is an older one from J.Crew that I paired with a Cynthia Rowley skirt.  I found a similar style at J.Crew Factory this season.

ShirtDress (3rd photo): Shirtdresses
are my Spring and Summer go to. They look polished and effortless at
the same time. The dress I’m wearing in this photo is from Kate Spade. I featured it in this post last year. It’s one of my favorite dresses. I have my eye on this and this dress.

Gingham (4th photo):
I will never get enough of this pattern. My eyes instantly gravitate
towards it and I cannot help buying new gingham pieces every season.
It’s impossible to resist! This matching set was from DVF a couple of years ago. I featured it on my trip to Charleston here. I’m obsessed with this skirt from Zara.  It couldn’t be more perfect. I also like this piece from Tuckernuck

Eyelet Shirts (5th photo):
Eyelet details always make every outfit appear more feminine and fun.
I love pairing an eyelet shirt with a pair of jeans for a romantic look.
This shirt was from Tory Burch featured in another one of my favorite posts, The Morgan Suite. I bought this eyelet cropped top in two different colors.
