Holiday Shopping Bug

Sweater: kate spade Shirt: kate spade c/o (similar) Skirt: kate spade c/o Shoes: Miu Miu (also love these) Bag: kate spade c/o Bracelets: kate spade 1,2 c/o Glasses: Gucci (also love these) Lipstick: Marc Jacobs // Miss Scarlet c/o

Tis the season for gifting. I put together a gift guide below with a few of my must have quirky, fun, and classic gifts from kate spade. These are perfect for best friends, mothers, daughters, sisters, etc. I absolutely love the champagne print found on the makeup bag and scarf. The owl gloves are too cute, and a Paris planner is always a good idea. One can never go wrong with a great smelling candle and the leopard pajamas look so cozy!

The outfit featured in this post is one of my favorites! I'm loving silver for the holidays. I've been looking for a sweater like this for a while and had to have it. It has a vintage look that I love. The shimmery skirt is perfect for holiday parties. It would also look great with a white turtleneck sweater and heels. The pieces worn in this post are great for mixing and matching to create festive looks for this season.

We Love Christmas a Latte

Dress: Eliza J Sweater: Kate Spade (also love this coat paired with it) Shoes: Miu Miu (silver sold out, similar) Bag: YSL Glasses: Karen Walker Earrings: Tory Burch

I love dressing up for the holidays. It's the only time of year I can incorporate fun glittery pieces into my wardrobe. After New Year's Eve I've always found glitter and sequins to be difficult to pull off. On a side note, I don't think I will be able to resist wearing these Miu Miu shoes featured year round. I'm in love!

This look featured from Nordstrom  is perfect for holiday parties and New Year's Eve. The shoes are a bit of a splurge but I just had to have them. The pearl details are everything. Nordstrom's easy returns made this purchase a no brainer for me. If the shoes didn't work out it would have been very easy for me to send them back. Lucky for me they are keepers! They sold out right away.

This dress by Eliza J has a pretty, classic silhouette. I love the pearl and rhinestones sewn around the neckline. I wore mine with a rhinestone cardigan to dress it down . It also looks great with black tights or no tights, a festive faux fur coat, and a pair of dressy heels for holiday parties. I found the fit to be true to size.

Below I linked a few splurge worthy designer shoes and similar shoe styles for less along with  a few must have holiday party dresses.

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I have a lot to be thankful for this year. At the top of my list is my family. Harris is the most precious gift in the world! Kiel and I loved including him in our almost yearly Thanksgiving tradition of decorating the outdoor tree in New Hampshire at Kiel's parents house. See last year's post here. This holiday was extra special having a little one around.

We recently introduced a new line of skirts for Kiel James Patrick. I'm wearing one in this post. It's currently 25% off with our annual Black Friday Sale. Our cozy cabin flannel dresses are also back in stock!

The Golden Goose

Jacket: Canada Goose, Dress: Treasure & Bond  (similar here and here) Boots: Sigerson Morrison (similar here and here) Bag: Madewell Glasses: Karen Walker Socks: Solange

For unpredictable frigid New England winters a down jacket is a must. It's the one jacket worth investing in for the season. I live in mine throughout January, February, and March when staying warm takes precedence over everything -- including looking fashionable. I live in turtlenecks, winter boots, cozy socks, and down jackets when the temperature drops below 30 degrees.

This red parka is my first Canada Goose purchase from Nordstrom. The jacket is just as warm as I hoped it would be. Over the years I have heard a lot of hype about Canada Goose jackets and this one lives up to my expectations. I really wanted a jacket that would allow me to enjoy outdoor adventures on the the coldest of days.  I love that the arms are not too stiff. I have purchased other down jackets in the past where I could barely move. The fit was true to size and I just love the color and collar of this particular style.

Special thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!

Winter Warmer Guide to Winter Coats

Coats Worn from Top to Bottom: J.Crew Factory (similar), J.Crew (similar), J.Crew, Jack Wills (similar), J.Crew, Tory Burch c/o, Tommy Hilfiger c/o, H&M (similar), Burberry (similar), J.Crew, Reiss (old), Kate Spade (similar here and here), J.Crew

Over the years I have built a great a collection of winter coats. I think I have coat for every type of occasion and yet I cannot resist buying a new one (or two) every winter. Coats are my absolute favorite article of clothing to buy. No matter how quickly I throw my outfit together in the morning, a beautiful coat will always tie my look together. I go from frazzled to polished the second I walk out the door. Fall and Winter in New England can be very unpredictable and the style coat I typically wear reflects the temperature outside. This time of year I wear my most stylish coats that might not necessarily be the warmest as the weather tends to be mild. In January and February I live in a down jacket unless we have that rare mild sunny day or I'm just going from my house to my heated car. I broke down my coat styles into: Pea Coat, Toggle Coat, Plaid Coat, Camel Coat, Pink Coat, and Statement Coat. I'm doing a post on down jackets later this week.

1. Pea Coats:  Originally worn by Sailors, the pea coat is the perfect staple for any classic wardrobe. I love a pea coat with gold anchor buttons worn over a turtleneck or chunky cable knit sweater.

2. Toggle Coats: I'm making a Home Alone reference here but I first noticed toggle coats after Kevin Mcallister wore a green one in Home Alone 2. I was around 10 years old at the time but I really wanted that coat. Fast forward many years later and my love affair with toggle coats still exists. I love to dress mine up with rain boots and dresses. It's the perfect coat to wear around the holidays.

3. Plaid Coats: I can never resist a plaid coat. To me everything looks better in plaid and this includes coats. I tend to wear understated basic pieces in solid colors with my plaid coats as the plaid pattern is already very busy.

4. Military Coats: I love the structure and clean lines of an elegant military coat. Most come with brass or gold buttons which always enhance the look. The best military coats are  a bit longer in length. They look beautiful dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

5. Camel Coats: There is nothing more classic or polished than a camel coat. My absolute favorite coat is the Burberry one featured in the 13th photo in this post. No matter what I'm wearing I always feel put together when I have one on. They are really versatile and look great with everything and on everyone. It's a coat must have.

6. Pink Coats: Pink is a great way to introduce a pop of color to any fall/winter wardrobe. With so many shades of pink one can go from very bright to the palest pink depending on their personal style. I love a muted shade of pink that acts as a neutral.

7. Statement Coats: A great statement coat is worth the investment. I have a few in my closet and they are great for days when you need a little extra pizzazz. I love to wear my faux fur collared Kate Spade coat with rhinestone buttons to holiday parties or winter weddings. My J.Crew Collection coat with rhinestones in the very last picture is tied with my Burberry coat for my absolute favorite. No matter what I am wearing underneath that coat I always feel perfectly put together when I have mine on. It doesn't hurt that it is also one of the warmest coats that I own.
