Winter Fondue

Dec 28, 2018

On Christmas Eve I hosted a small fondue dinner for my family. I wanted to try a meal that is a little different than what we normally do — a traditional roast or spiral ham. I thought a fondue would be a fun novelty for everyone to enjoy. Last winter Kiel and I experienced an amazing fondue on top of a mountain in Utah, and a few weeks ago we had a beautiful fondue dinner at the Ocean House to celebrate the opening of the Veuve Clicquot Fondue Express. Both experiences were very enjoyable and inspired me to prepare a fondue at home. It’s a wonderful way to spend an evening with loved ones. Like putting together a cheese board, you almost can’t go wrong with a fondue.

A Merry Little Christmas

Dec 26, 2018

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas enjoying precious time spent with family and friends! This year flew by far too fast. Just last Christmas Harry was a newborn babe who I constantly held in my arms and now he’s running around with a lively interest in the world around him. We had a very special season with him and I’m not quite ready for it to end. In this post I’m sharing highlights from Christmas and the weekend leading up to it.

A light snow welcomed us on Christmas Eve morning and it was magical. We hosted Christmas Eve and Christmas Dinner at our home (I can now appreciate all of the hard work our parents put into the holidays), attended a couple of holiday parties (I couldn’t resist putting together another cheese board for Kiel’s sister), visited Santa — Harry screamed the instant we tried to put him on Santa’s lap, and baked lots of holiday cookies!  It was an action packed few days and I’m ready for a long winter’s nap.

Kiel’s Famous Gingerbread Cookies

Dec 23, 2018
Around the holidays we always have plenty of gingerbread cookies around our home. Kiel has been baking them every year since he was a child. It’s a tradition he really looks forward to. There is always a mini competition between him and his mom to see who can make the tastier gingerbread cookie. I won’t say who the winner is but I will say that the cookies never last long around here.
Today I’m sharing Kiel’s famous gingerbread cookie recipe. He likes his with a little extra holiday spice! It’s fairly easy to follow. The only tricky part is getting the icing to stay soft while decorating the cookies. We used this recipe for the Royal Icing. To make the icing easier to apply we kept putting the plastic icing bag under hot water which helped a great deal when decorating.

The New England House Tartan

Dec 20, 2018
This season we introduced our signature New England House Tartan Collection for Kiel James Patrick. The collection includes one of our latest products, a personalized tartan blanket. Kiel has been working on perfecting this plaid pattern for a long time and we are excited to have it as a staple in our line. Our blankets are made for road trips, picnics, cozy movie nights, and bundling up by a campfire. I’m loving the way our throw looks over our leather couch. The colors are perfectly New England.

Holiday Helpers

Dec 18, 2018

Bennie recently teamed up with Anthropologie for a series of adorable holiday photos. If you want more Bennie in your life make sure to follow her on Instagram.  Kiel and I had so much fun putting this shoot together that I had to share the images here. My favorite duo started off their day at the Christmas tree farm and made it home just in time for milk & cookies by the fire!

Cozy Christmas

Dec 17, 2018
Can’t believe Christmas is only a week away! We took this set of pictures for our Kiel James Patrick Holiday Collection back in November. It’s been such a busy season that it feels like a lifetime ago. Kiel and I have been wearing these sweaters all season long. My fair isle sweater has been my go to for staying warm and comfortable around the house. We have a lot of baking and gift wrapping ahead of us this week and I love to wear items that are both festive and cozy.

Today I rounded up a few pieces that will give any holiday ensemble a little extra sparkle. These statement pieces are perfect for ushering in the New Year in style.

Ann Taylor Giveaway

Dec 13, 2018

Visit my latest Instagram post to enter to win a $1000 shopping spree from Ann Taylor. The winner will be announced this Sunday 12/16. I was excited to collaborate with Ann Taylor for this special giveaway. Ann Taylor has an assortment of beautiful, classic pieces that can be worn to the office, holiday parties, and more. I had to have the green coat the second I laid my eyes upon it! It’s a gorgeous color. The dress has a really pretty ruffled neckline and pleated skirt. It hits just above the knees in length. I love that both of these pieces are really versatile and can be paired with other staples in my closet for a wide variety of looks.

Henry’s Christmas Tree Farm

Dec 12, 2018

Today I’m sharing images from our annual trip to Henry’s Christmas Tree Farm to pick out our tree.  It’s a tradition we look forward to every year. This year Harry spent most of his time at the farm chasing Bennie. He did not want us to hold him for a second. A new chapter has officially begun.

Holiday Hostess Gifts

Dec 11, 2018
Holiday party season is upon us! I’ve rounded up a few hostess gift ideas below. More often than not I end up gifting the party host with a nice bottle of wine or champagne with a big red bow. Homemade cookies in a cute Christmas tin is a great gift option if you have the time to bake at home. I love to fill a festive jar with candy. The candy options are endless. Candy can be homemade (peppermint bark, peanut brittle, or peanut butter cups), picked up from a specialty chocolate shop, or purchased from the supermarket (Lindt chocolates, M&M’s). I came across this adorable Prosecco cup from Anthropologie and thought it would make a really fun gift combined with a bottle of Prosecco. If it’s a small gathering amongst friends a board game is also a nice gift idea.
