Earlier this month Kiel and I packed up our car and headed to Patterson, NY where we met with friends to enjoy Victory Cup polo. It was a beautiful day to wander the fields and enjoy the match from the comfort of an oversized oriental rug. We beat the sweltering heat with chilled glasses of Prosecco and snacks bought from vendors underneath a giant white tent. I was invited to throw the first chukka of the match. Having never thrown a chukka before, I was little nervous. My throw turned out to be decent.
After the winner was declared, picnics were quickly dismantled and tables brought in for a delicious farm to table dinner prepared by local farmers and chefs. There were several courses with the last being chicken and waffles, a personal favorite. After dessert, a pick up truck appeared on the field and a team of three unloaded a pile of giant logs. Once the sun went down, the bon fire was lit. The extinguishing embers signified that it was time to return home.
