Month: March 2020
Almost three solid weeks spent at home and my motivation to dress up every day is slowly giving way to slippers, comfortable pants, and oversized sweaters. A couple of days last week I don’t think I bothered getting ready at all. I didn’t feel quite like myself. When Friday arrived bringing with it warm weather and sunshine, I did my hair, put a on a dress, and felt like a whole new person. Dressing up improved my mood drastically. I enjoyed a glass of Rose’ on the porch and even helped Harry give Bennie a much needed bubble bath.
This time of year I love heading to Newport to visit my favorite shop Cottage & Garden. It’s my go to place to stock up on topiaries, terra-cotta pots, and unique pieces for the home and garden. The baskets featured in the second photo came home with me on one of my shopping trips last April. I always love bringing in new plants and spring pieces to freshen up my home early spring. Like most non-essential stores, Cottage & Garden is closed for the unforeseeable future.
Spring has arrived in Newport! Last Friday Kiel and I stopped by our store which has been closed for a over a week now to pick up a few things. It was unsettling to see the restaurant and shops closed and the streets relatively quiet. Even in the off season Newport is always happening.
Now more than ever we are fortunate to have a number of blockbuster worthy television series to enjoy at the end of a long day or to simply ease our minds during these troubling times. With so many networks to choose from — Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Disney + there is literally something for everyone. I find that so many options can make it really hard to settle on one show.
This time of year I always love to travel. After a long winter it’s always special to see the world come alive again. While I won’t be enjoying any spring excursions this year, I can’t help but look back at some of my favorite flower filled scenes. Wanted to share a few here in the hopes that they may bring you joy.
During happier times, I shot this mini dress look from Zara. Zara has so many fun, affordable pieces for Spring that I couldn’t resist buying a few. Like most people, I have spent the last few days at home. It has helped calm my state of mind immensely to simply wander the yard with Harry, Kiel, and Bennie. We are really appreciating the early signs of spring from the arrival of Dutch crocuses, to the almost bloomed daffodil petals starting to peek out, and tinged red branches from the trees just starting to bud.
