Go Outside

I'm finally starting to get excited for fall! The summer days are getting a little shorter, and the humid nights are making me long for crisp fall sleeping weather. I'm slowly starting to introduce new fall pieces to my wardrobe. Mainly items that I can continue to wear after I have the baby such as staple shoes, bags, and jackets. The only thing I couldn't avoid investing in was a couple pairs of maternity jeans. I was really starting to miss denim and none of my jeans currently fit me. I bought two pairs of maternity jeans from Nordstrom to get me through the next couple of months. The pair featured by Ingrid & Isabel is the perfect shade and fit. They look almost like my normal jeans except for having an elastic band where the pockets would normally be.

I live in denim, basic button downs, and loafers in the early fall/very late summer. I paired this go to combo with a military inspired jacket from Madewell. This jacket is a great transition piece as it's lightweight and will look great over a white dress, flannel dress, short and sweater combo, almost everything... I couldn't resist purchasing a few Madewell items from Nordstrom to accompany it such as the loafers and peplum shirt (I'm wearing a size M when I would normally wear XS).  These pieces are easy to mix into my ensemble for days that are not quite fall. Madewell is a great brand for quality staple pieces that will remain in my wardrobe for years to come. See my fall must haves for jackets, shoes, and bags below.

Special thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!

Bermuda Sunshowers

Dress: Club Monaco Sandals: Gucci Bag: Anthropologie (old, also like this style) Necklace: Kiel James Patrick Bracelet: Kiel James Patrick 1,2 Glasses: Karen Walker

It amazes me that Bermuda is only two hours away by plane, and seemingly worlds apart from New England. I love the colorful buildings, turquoise water, pink sand beaches, rocky outcrops, and lush tropical vegetation. For an island that is 22 miles long and roughly a mile wide (at its widest point it is 3 miles wide), there is so much to see and do.

When the Hamilton Princess Hotel and Beach Club invited Kiel and I to stay for our babymoon, it was an offer we couldn't refuse. We've been dying to go someplace tropical since we had to cancel our trip to the Caribbean earlier this year. Bermuda not only fits the tropical bill, but it's Zika Free, and so close to home. I couldn't handle a long flight at this stage of my pregnancy. Truth be told I don't love long flights regardless.

During our trip, Kiel and I captured a lot of shots of  the gorgeous scenery that can be found around the island and at the hotel. I will be sharing those images along with our trip itinerary in an upcoming post. This is the only outfit post I took on the trip. I couldn't resist the gorgeous iconic pink backdrop of the Hamilton Princess Hotel and grounds. (Fun fact it was painted pink in 1964.) This Club Monaco dress was a recent purchase and I was initially nervous that it wouldn't fit me. I'm wearing my normal size XS. It's not a maternity piece. I was able to make it work due to the elastic waist and overall roominess of the dress.  If you look closely it's a toile print with ostriches, tropical trees, and monkeys. I'm in love!

Special thank you to Hamilton Princess for our stay!

Jamestown Sunset

Blazer: Banana Republic (similar)  Dress: Club Monaco (Club Monaco dresses are now on sale for 25% off. I just purchased this one. Fingers crossed that it fits) Sandals: Carrie Forbes (similar) Necklace: Kiel James Patrick Bracelets: Kiel James Patrick 1,2

Sharing a couple of snapshots from a recent day in Jamestown. Kiel was shooting for Walker and Wade (check out their beautiful beach to table dresses), while I couldn't resist playing with the pups. Bennie was very happy to have a friend for a couple of hours!

I recently rediscovered this navy double breasted blazer I bought from Banana Republic a few seasons ago and I have been wearing it almost everyday with dresses. I love the classic look and gold buttons. This dress was purchased in the Spring from Club Monaco and might still be available on sale.

How to Make Summer Last

Dress: Beach Lunch Lounge (also feat. this one on Instagram. Finally available online) Sandals: Carrie Forbes (similar)  Earrings: Nicola Bathie c/o

Once August 1st arrives and the fall promotion emails start flooding my inbox, I'm always reminded of all the things I intended to do at the start of summer and never got around to -- beach days, grilling recipes to try, an afternoon reading on my hammock, more dinners on the dock, blueberry picking, putting our boat in the water (I think at this point it might be more trouble than it's worth). The season goes by so fast and I fully intend to make the most of August, which means more nights like the one featured in this post. We didn't have time to cook, but pizza is always a simple and delicious solution.  I can' t think of a better place to enjoy it than on the dock while watching the sunset. I want to spend as much time outdoors as I possibly can before the weather turns cold. What is on your August bucket list?

This table comes in a bag and is perfect for not just my dock, but the beach, a grassy field, pretty much any place that suits you to have a picnic. Easy to assemble, and pack up. Here are my essentials for a no fuss dock dinner below (not included fresh flowers):
