Harry’s Bedroom?

Bennie and Maple have taken over Harry’s bedroom and intend to snuggle in until Spring. I can’t say that I blame them! Harry’s bed is extra cozy. Sharing a glimpse of Harry’s space today. It’s very fitting for the adventures of a little boy and his two furry companions. Kiel and I love antique shopping for unique furniture and decor finds including his bed, the toy chest, and animal heads. We love to combine old pieces that have lots of character with newer finds, the anchor lamp for example is from Target.

When I came across the painting by D.V. Pinet titled Summer Day Boy’s Daydream with His Dog I knew I had to have it. I can’t think of a picture more fitting for this room. It really brings all of the different themes and elements of boyhood adventure together.

It appears Harry has adopted my love of reading  and there are many spaces for books throughout his room. I try not to buy him too many toys but I’m always picking up new books to read to him. It’s one of our favorite things to do together. Currently loving the Gruffalo, Search the Castle, and Blueberries for Sal.

The bedding is from LL Bean and the lobster sheets (c/o) are from a collaboration between my talented friend Sara Fitz and LL Bean. I always love her artwork and these sheets are too adorable.

I love the painting! Do you know where I could get a print for my son’s room?

Thank you! I looked to see if any prints were available but I couldn’t find any. This 1940 painting was inspired by the artist Henry Hintermeister. You might have better luck finding similar prints of his work.

Such a cute room! Do you remember where you found the pillow on Harry’s bed of the boy wearing the yellow raincoat?

Thank you! It came from a store called Daytrip Society in Kennebunkport, Maine. They sold the pillows there a couple of years ago.

What an adorable room! I have a daughter the same age, and we also love The Gruffalo and Blueberries for Sal (one of my favorites as a child). I recommend The Snail and the Whale and the Cook and the King by the same author as the Gruffalo if you haven’t already read them. Wishing you and your sweet family all the best.
