Sunny Day on Bowen’s Wharf

It feels a bit premature to categorize this post as Spring, but since we are nearly a week away I thought it fitting for this wishy-washy end of New England winter. On Friday, when I took these pictures, it was a beautiful day in Newport. The weather was in the mid fifties and perfect for a light coat, sweater, and skirt ensemble. Kiel and I had a couple of meetings in town and it was really nice to walk down Thames St. and around the wharf. We sat down for lunch at Diego’s (always a favorite for tacos) and poked around a few of the shops. I brought home the antique desk of my dreams and a new topiary. Spring was definitely in the air on this day — the rest of the weekend was rainy, windy, and frigid. We woke up to a light layer of snow this morning.

This time of year when I need a wardrobe refresh I like to keep it realistic as it’s not uncommon to have a snowstorm in April in Rhode Island. I slowly introduce new pieces to my spring wardrobe. Very often they are dresses or skirts like the one featured in this post that I can style now with my current winter wardrobe and later with sandals and summer blouses.

I tried to stop by the store on Saturday to purchase one of the new shamrock necklaces, but the store was closed due to the parade- so sad! Luckily, Brittany was helpful on Sunday when I called to order the necklace… and I will pick it up when I come back to visit Newport again in a few weeks. It was terribly weather this past weekend!

Hi I have two bunny sweaters from last year and I’m wearing them again this year they are my favorites!
I’ve been browsing the jewelry section and I recently found out that a lot of costume jewelry can contain lead or other toxic metals unfortunately the standards in USA still allow certain levels in jewelry for adults which I want to avoid, particularly when I am around my grandchild. Do you have any lead free jewelry or bracelets?

Your dress is so beautiful. You look amazing with the sweater and ring.
