Home Office Makeover

Rug // Sofa // Chair & Ottoman// Custom Sunbrella Throw Pillow Fabrics – Rust, Shibori IndigoLattice Taupe // Desk Armchair (All pieces c/o Sunbrella)
Welcome to my newly renovated multifunctional home office, created in collaboration with Sunbrella! This room was previously a cluttered storage space intended for work but packed with photography
equipment, furniture, and other miscellaneous items that my husband and I didn’t quite know what to do
with. I almost can’t believe the before and after! With a little TLC, I’ve transformed it into a very appealing environment, bidding farewell to the dull white walls and an outdated wooden desk and shelving. The walls were painted in a light green shade, and our desk was revamped with new brass hardware, a maple top, as well as custom shelving. I have been looking for any and every excuse to spend time here!
The new office has an interesting layout – it is long and narrow with a charming nook located under a set of stairs that leads to the second floor. In that nook, facing a big bay window, I envisioned a special area where I could relax and work, adding a cozy striped statement sofa and a gallery wall. The Hartwell Upholstered Apartment Striped Sofa is incredibly plush and comfortable. The Sunbrella fabric is easy to
clean and can be maintained through a quick spot treatment when needed. To give the sofa a pop of
color, I added a few throw pillows in a couple of custom made throw pillows in  Sunbrella Canvas Rust ,
along with custom-made pillows made with and Sunbrella Shibori Indigo fabrics.
For all of my home projects I usually have one piece that I build around. In this case it was the sofa. Once I selected this piece as the central focus of the room, I was able to get a sense of the color scheme I was going for — shades of taupe, cream, orange, brown, and blue. The Maggie Chair and Ottoman in Sunbrella Sailcloth Sailor was a perfect neutral addition to the corner of the office and my next selection. If the nook under the stairs was going to be busy, I wanted this corner to be more subdued to offset some of the busier patterns in the other sections of the room. I love that Ballard Designs has a line of beautiful furniture that can be customized in a wide variety of Sunbrella fabrics. It’s really helpful when you have a specific idea for furniture in mind. This chair was also dressed up with a custom throw pillow made with Sunbrella Lattice Taupe fabric.
I’ve always believed that a good rug can really bring a room together, and the Sunbrella Cream Beige 8×10 Rug could not have completed this space more. It pulled in all of the colors of the room to make the many elements work together beautifully from the shelf decor to the furniture. I can’t get over how much I love this rug! It’s made using 100% Sunbrella yarns and easy-to-clean. Upholding the quality that Sunbrella is known for, it can’t be stained by spills or pet accidents — music to my ears with a five-year-old and two pups at home!
Saving one of the best pieces for last — the Oval back Louis XVI Armchair in Sunbrella Cheetah Taupe.
This chair is another piece from Ballard Designs. Every detail on it can be customized from the wood
color to the nailheads, and of course the Sunbrella fabric. The chair, with its rich details and cheetah print pattern, is an elegant addition to the desk space that adds an elevated touch. Happy to finally share this makeover which has been a passion project of mine. Special thank you to Sunbrella for sponsoring this post!

I love that you are sharing more of your home! You have such a wonderful eye for styling. We have a lot of built in shelves in our home and I’m always looking for inspiration on how to arrange them.
