Today I'm sharing a property that all of my house goal dreams are made of. It's situated between two pastures of perfectly lush grass and stone walls. Whether you are looking out the front window or sitting on the back porch, the Newport Polo horses can be seen roaming the fields. Through the yard runs a babbling brook with daffodils lining each side and a stone carriage bridge to cross it. When the windows are open the sound of running water can be heard throughout the house and it's simply magical. While I was there I felt like we were in the English countryside and I honestly didn't want to leave.

Washington Irving III, a descendent of Washington Irving the author of Sleepy Hollow, once called this charming place built in 1750 home. Our friends Allison and Steve are the current owners and they did a beautiful job updating the property and opening up the space. I  love the exposed beams in the reading room, I can't think of a cozier place to curl up with a good book and read by the fire.

In high summer the yard truly comes to life with flowering shrubs and a perennial garden that includes hydrangeas, roses, and dahlias. If I lived here I would probably start every  sunny morning with breakfast on the patio and every night in the same place with a glass of wine.

This unique property is currently for sale. Contact Lila Delman for more info.
