Summer Wedding Season

With the 4th of July right around the corner, summer wedding season is in full swing. I have always found there to be so much more variety in dressing for a summer wedding than a winter wedding. In the fall and winter I almost always opt for a black or jeweled tone dress in emerald or navy with costume jewelry to complete the look.  In the summer, dress options are endless. Anything from a short pink lace cocktail dress, flowy floral maxi dress, butter yellow linen midi dress, or a strapless gown with navy and white stripes could be suitable. Depending on the shoes and accessories worn, a summer dress can become very dressy or casual. For outdoor weddings I often bring two pairs of shoes with me, a pair of heels and a pair of flats, in case I’m walking on a lawn or on the beach. I’ve ruined a few heels on the grass over the years!

The kate spade dress I have featured in this post is a dream. At first glance the daisies look like hydrangeas and I love the floral lace detailing around the waistline and placket. It’s light-weight, flowy, and perfectly elegant. I would wear it to a black tie or an outdoor wedding. I bought the gold Manolo Blahnik sandals last year for a gala and have worn them to a few different formal events. They are extremely comfortable and give me the extra height (I’m 5’5) I need/love when I wear a long dress. I completed this dressy look with a pair of floral mother of pearl earrings. I plan on wearing this look again for a wedding I have in a few weeks. I admittedly have also worn this dress to work and out to dinner.

Below I shared a few dress options for attending a summer wedding. They range from Black tie to semi formal. I love the range of colors, prints, and dress styles that will work for this time of year. Summer is the perfect time to stretch the boundaries and have a little fun when dressing up.
