Month: April 2019
Nantucket is beautiful year round, but I love how the pop of yellow from the thousands of daffodils planted around the island contrasts against the stark, leafless trees and typical grey skies that are unfortunately almost a daily occurrence this time of year. No matter how brisk it is, and it’s always brisk for Daffy Weekend, everyone on the island is out celebrating spring.
Our Kiel James Patrick Summering Dresses have returned for Spring/Summer 19′. We brought back our best selling yellow oxford dress and introduced two new styles – a pretty white eyelet, and a classic pink oxford.
We recently released this Old Salt sweater for Kiel James Patrick. It’s one of my favorite designs to date. The light-weight sweater is Donegal Wool and slightly oversized for comfortable wear. I tucked my sweater in with high-waisted jeans but love the way it looks with denim shorts or skinny jeans untucked. It’s the perfect sweater for summer nights.
A couple of weeks ago Kiel,Harry, and I flew down to Wilmington, North Carolina to shoot our Spring/Summer campaign with a few familiar faces for Kiel James Patrick including Abby from Belle of the Ball. I will admit I was a huge fan of Dawson’s Creek and always wanted to visit the area. We rented a beach house at Wrightsville Beach and ended up spending a lot of time by the water. I was a little sad that I did not get a chance to explore town due to work (we had a lot of new product to shoot), but I loved being on the beach.
Year round I love a good statement earring to mix up my outfits. My look never feels complete with out adding a little something extra, especially if my attire is basic. The right statement earring can tie a look together. For the longest time I’ve worn clip-on earrings. I’m always on the hunt for them. I love that so many companies offer them these days. I mainly used to buy them in antique stores and now I can find a number of different styles online from some of my favorite designers.
Spring has officially arrived in New England and I couldn’t be happier. This weekend has been the first weekend to actually feel like spring — the weather has been warm and the trees are finally starting to bud. I’ve loved spending the time outdoors. We took the Wagooneer out for a drive to stock up on tulips and daffodils for our yard. For now the plants look really pretty sitting in pots on our front porch but in a few weeks we intend to plant them in front of our stonewall to enjoy next year.
When it comes to footwear, I’m always drawn to a classic pair of comfortable saddle leather flats for my everyday wear. The Sarah Flint Natalie flat featured in this post fits this bill perfectly. The luxurious leather on this pair of shoes is the most perfect shade of saddle. I’m always on the hunt for a good pointy toe saddle leather shoe as it tends to look good with everything in my closet.
Year after year I continue to gravitate towards gingham as a staple pattern in my spring/summer wardrobe. Gingham remains classic no matter the style of the clothing whether it be a mini dress or an ankle length dress, a cropped top or a long sleeved blouse, cigarette pants or a tennis skort. It’s one of the few patterns that can be incorporated into a trend of the moment and make it timeless.
Location: Castle Combe // England
Castle Combe was on our England bucket list. It’s a small village located in Wiltshire. Kiel, Harry, and I stopped there on the way to Dorset — the village was every bit as charming as I imagined it to be. Other than one hotel and a couple of restaurants there is not a whole lot to do. It’s perfect for a leisurely stroll to take in the sights.
