Summer Porch Refresh

Porch season has returned. In the summer months our porch always gets a great deal of use. It’s the place where we enjoy pizza on a Friday night, cocktails with friends and family, reading books to Harry on the porch swing, and my office when I work from home. It’s always so quiet and peaceful, even the chirping sounds from the family of purple finches who took up residence in our flower basket just after Easter has become relaxing to me. As we tend to spend so much time here we really enjoy decorating it for the seasons, switching up everything from our plants to our pillows in order to suit the aesthetic of our natural surroundings. I’m really excited to partner with Sunbrella again for a summer porch refresh.  The green and white striped custom Sunbrella cushions and our wheat colored Sunbrella outdoor rug  that we selected last year serve as a great base to tie the decor of our porch together. When I selected them I really envisioned them being styled in different ways to suit both our country home and the New England seasons. They did not disappoint and have held up beautiful throughout the seasons and repeated use.

For the summer months we swapped out our green and yellow Sunbrella accent pillows for pink and light sand linen pillowhttps://bit.ly/3i2fDUUs leaving the Tropics Jungle pattern pillow as our main accent pillow. See my fall porch post here for reference.

I love how a simple swap can change up the look of our porch. The new pillows complement our striped cushions, potted geraniums and hydrangeas beautifully. Accent pillows serve as an effortless way to refresh a space without having to spend too much money.

With so much time spent on our porch swing with a toddler and one very active golden, I’m very pleased that all of the Sunbrella pillows and cushions are also wonderfully easy to clean. With Harry it is impossible to avoid food messes, and Bennie has a knack for jumping up on the swing after rolling in dirt. For the individual pillows I always take the covers off and throw them in the wash. Afterwards I let the covers air dry in the sun. They dry really quickly. The stripe cushions are perfect for spot clean and  there hasn’t been a single stain that I haven’t been able to get out. The performance fabric is also fade proof and UV resistant, meaning I can leave my cushions out on the porch year round and know that the fabrics will hold their vibrant color just like when I first received them.

Excited for the long summer ahead. For me nothing compares to time spent outdoors with my family. The porch is a central part of our home life this time of year, and I really love how the space turned out.
